Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine Financial Review

Section 302 of the Tax Relief and Health Care Act of 2006 makes the Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) Program permanent and required the Secretary to expand the program to all 50 states by no later than 2010. The purpose of RACs is to find underpayment and overpayment of Medicare funds. Is your wound and hyperbaric program compliant? Don’t wait until you are surveyed by RAC to solve your documentation issues.

MATRIX will review a large sample of your charts and determine if documentation supports appropriate reimbursement for wound care. Hyperbaric documentation will be assessed for appropriate documentation and treatment length. Wound care procedures will be assessed for consistent, thorough documentation to ensure appropriate procedure and debridement reimbursement. Recommendations will be offered for every delinquency observed.

One of the main questions a wound center director should ask is, “Are we getting paid?” It is amazing how often a facility feels that they are doing everything right, but when financial audits are performed, very expensive errors are found. Let MATRIX help you determine if you are getting paid and if you aren’t we’ll help you put the processes in place to ensure that you are dropping bills appropriately. A small consulting fee can save you lots of money!
